after a perfect weekend comes the depression

I have lots and lots to say and show and post about the last few idyllic days here in Skye, but first I want to talk about how depressed I am. Not because we leave this afternoon (though I am sad) but because Downton Abbey is over.

The series finale was a huge success-- attracting 10 million viewers for itv last night. Sadly, Scotland didn't purchase the rights to air it on actual itv, so we watch it online. It was so great to be here with Zaza and Iona-- avid avid Downton lovers. And after the windiest hike ever, a tour of Dunvegan castle (more on both of those things later) and a beautiful dinner, the three of us sat down with some whisky, an adorable dog and a fire to begin hitting refresh over and over again until we grew too tired and gave up until this morning.

Now we've watched it and while it was brilliant, we're all sad we'll have to wait a year for the next installment. But glad that there will be one, since we'd have been pretty frayed if all the loose ends series one left were to remain unresolved.

United States-- please let Julian Fellowes write all our programming! And keep an eye out for when it comes your way. It's a gem! Even my dear This Recording called the show the perfect replacement for Mad Men, and alluded to a possible mini series pick up from NBC. For your sake, USA, I hope NBC comes through on that one.

Bonus: Deleted Scene
