Sometimes it's easy to think we've run out of beautiful ideas in the arts. Most everything is derivative. But there's derivative and then there's derivative. And then there's something else. The Royal Ballet and Wayne MacGregor's Chroma is just such a something else. It is something wild.
Not only does it feature a surprisingly perfect score from.... The White Stripes and Joby Talbot.... but this is the first dance piece I've maybe ever seen where the visuals and the choreography genuinely surprised me. Good job, Brits. Who couldn't use something beautiful and strange and unexpected on a Tuesday?
